Artist Statement
I chose my series from A Room Of Ones Own, because it represents my accomplishments as a photographer. When I was taking this series, I knew that my main focus had to be light. I thought of a place that was a part of my everyday life, where light was most present. When driving to school, the light is everywhere. I took the series near my house at a place where the light reflects through my house. Whenever there is an option, I always choose traditional over digital cameras. Traditional cameras are much more enjoyable, and more expressive.
Prior to taking photography I was interested, but I never knew that I would be as intent and engaged in it as I am today. In photography I am trying new things, and attempting to figure out what my most engaging style of photography is. My greatest challenge this year has been with the digital projects, but I also hope to improve my abilities, and comprehension of digital work.
When thinking about myself as a photographer, I think of someone who has just recently discovered his talent. Although I need to work on my creativity, I believe that it will come with my slow improvements. My projects are extremely different and there are no trends that are recognizable. I feel like my frustrations with photography are beginning to go away as my new projects develop and I see my true talent.
